Blog Update: April 30th, May 8th

May 7, 2010

This is my first virtual vacation. I placed myself in front of the Eiffel Tower in Paris, France. I used the image<adjustments option to blend myself in the image. I used the layer adjustment effect.

This is the ink sketch effect. I opened one of my headshots for this image. I copied this layer and applied the photocopy effect for the copied layer. I then, changed the hue

This is the jumbotron effect. I used a concert image. I then, placed myself in the image. I added some bold text to the background layer. I then, used the elliptical marquee tool to form dots on the image, then it got a pixellated effect.

This is the retro poster effect. A lot of painting was involved when creating this image. I placed a photo of myself on the background. Then, I used several different hard brushes and painted it different contrasting colors. Then, I used the eraser tool to make it look scratched. Then, I added 4 images to the background. I flipped the images using the apple<t command. Then, I used the rectangle tool to create rectangles, and filled it with a cream color, I copied them and moved them up on top of one another to get 4 rectangles.

This is my second virtual vacation. i removed myself from the background using the filter<extract tool. I placed myself in front of the white house. I then, used the image<adjustments tool to blend myself in the image, adjusting the color contrasts.

I used one of my headshots for this photoshop assignment. This is my abstract watercolor image. I found a watercolor image and merged my head with one of the watercolor images I found. The result of this, it looks like a lion.

This image is my photoshop album cover. I chose a lined gradient. I changed both the foreground and background colors to a purple color. I used a spiral paintbrush. I also used the splat paintbrush and splattered the background. I also made an oval shape in the middle of the cover and typed my name in it.

This is my warhol image.I used a pink background, and Amy Lee as my photo. I painted some eye shadow on Amy and made her have a tan skin color. I also tried to paint over her hair but, this didn’t work for this image. It turned out pretty good though.

Blog Update: 4-9-10

This image is my True Space photoshop project. First, I opened a new document 8 inches wide by 6 inches tall, RGB, 100 pixels and white background. Then, I picked 2 colors that work beautifully together: black and red. I chose an image of a vampire because it goes with the colors that I chose for this project (black and red). I used the pain daubs tool under the artistic tab and then I picked a pattern that worked best with this project. I put the image on the background, and typed in some text. Some of the techniques I used that I didn’t mention above were: filter-stylize-wind and I also used filter-pattern to get the cool black and red pattern.

This is the polaroid image effect. For this project, I used some images of one of the best local bands: Needless To Say. I was thinking that these photos would fit great with a purple background because there is a purple background in all of their images. I was guessing the idea of this project was to make a photo shoot of some sort and place it like a collage. I made a border around all of the images using the drop shadow and stroke effects. This was pretty much the whole point of the project to make it look like a polaroid image. This turned out pretty good and it looks like it came straight out of a magazine.

This was my Go Green Poster Effect for my final exam. I had to use four images for this project that had to do something with going green. I applied 4 photoshop techniques to the poster. I made it look green for the theme of going green.

The Blog of All Blogs

This is my caricature of a scene girl. I pretty much just made her look like a cartoon. In order to get this effect I used the liquify tool. I played around with the settings of liquify and that is how I got it to look like a cartoon.

This is my guts image. I really like this image because it turned out nice and it actually looks like guts. I used the plastic tool and changed the settings to a red color to get this effect. That is pretty much all I used to make it look like guts, I then used the text tool to type out the word guts.

This is my lemography image. To get this effect I used the marquee tool to cut out the kitty’s head. I then changed the colors to make it evil looking. I used the gradient map and picked a blue and yellow color in order to make it look unique.

This is my vintage car image. I found an image of an old car. I then, changed the colors of the image to make it look old. I used the lasso tool to cut out the background and only leave the car. I used the paint brush to make it look old and rustic looking.

This is the noir poster effect image. I used a background image and an image of Amy Lee’s face in order to blend the two together. I used a lot of black and white colors to make it look like an old movie poster. I then used the text tool and created a simple text bubble.

This is my Lichenstein image effect. I used multiple layers while doing this project. I basically just found an image of a comic. I then painted the image several times to make it look like a coloring page. I then used the text bubble tool, and typed in a short phrase that went a long with my image.

This is my music poster image. I used the heart shape tool and made it go around the image of the band that I used. I then used the gradient tool to get a cool background color. Then, I typed some text on the image that went along with the tour name.

This image is the psychedelic poster effect. I got an image of the red queen from Alice In Wonderland to use for this effect. I made the queen look extremely red to give her a bloody effect. I then desaturated the image. I then used the text tool and typed in a short phrase that went along with my image, “off with their heads!”.

This image is the super natural effect. I used filter clouds and made stars. I then added some noise into the image. I then added the phrase aliens are coming. This is how it ended up with the super natural effect.

This is the image for the radioactive effect. I used distort wave to get this effect. I then kept doing it until it made a circular-like motion. Then, I changed the colors to magenta. I typed in the words radioactive and then I was done!

This is the scanlines image effect. I pretty much just made bars on my background and then scanned the area. I got an image and then added lines over it. That is pretty much all I did to get this effect. This image turned out really well.

This is the Painted Edges effect image. I pretty much used the lasso tool to cut the image out. Then, I made a blue background. Then I put some text that went along with my image.

This is the soot and snow image effect. Pretty much all I did here was desaturated the image. Then, I made it look pink. I lightened and darkened the image until I got it to look cool. I left the background white in order to keep the contrast looking good.

This is the pen ink color effect. I made the image look black and white. Then, I made it look like a drew it in pencil. I believe I used the pencil tool to get it to look like this. Then, I drew lines around the image.

This is the technicolor image effect. All I did with this one was give it a mystic like feel. I changed the colors to a blueish-pink by using the gradient tool. I used the paint brush, grass tool to get it to look mystical.

This is the screenblend image. I blended the two images together, then I used over lay. I put the image of Avril Lavigne in the sky to make it look like there is an angel in the sky. This image actually turned out really well. I think I also used screen but, I can’t remember exactly.

This is the pop dots effect. I used the lasso tool and cut around the image. Then, I added a red background to the image. I selected a small paint brush and added dots to the image. Then, I blended in together.

This is the Pen Ink Drawing number 2. For this one I pretty much got a picture. I then colored it red and pink. I then used the blend tool to blend it all together and give it a feel of the pen drawing. I don’t remember exactly what I did for this drawing actually.

My First Awesome Photoshop Images

January 29, 2010

My first photoshop image is the pencil drawing. My photo started looking like a drawing when I did this: Click on the original background layer to select it, and apply the “Add Noise” filter (Filter -> Noise -> Add Noise…) and set the Amount to about 14%, the distribution to Gaussian and a check on Monochromatic. You may have to adjust the Amount so as to not have too much noise. In order to see the effect you will have to click the eye icon next to the duplicated layer. You will click again so you can see the layer. I like this picture because The Birthday Massacre actually looks really cool in pencil form. The second photoshop image I chose was Emilie Autumn because she looks scary and it fits an oil painting quite well. It started looking oil painting when I: o to the filter menu, go to Distort to Glass. Set the distortion to 3, the smoothness to 3, and choose Canvas from the texture menu. Set the scaling to around 80%. You may choose your own settings if you don’t like the ones given. This one was my favorite because it turned out very well as an oil painting. Overall, to get the stretched effect I Applied a filter. The example uses the Filter>Distort Wave. You may choose one of your own.
Then I used the smudge tool from the tool bar. The smudge tool looks like a finger pointed
down. It helps blend if needed. There were other steps but, I used this to make it stretched and blended. My image can be used for a poster. I like this image of Breathe Carolina, it reminds me of how goofy they are.
